Buncrana GAA Notes For Week Ending Sunday 16th September
Congratulations: Congratulations all round in the Club this week! Firstly, to C.LG. Bun Cranncha’s U16 hurlers who were crowned league champions last Thursday night with a great win over Aodh Rua Ballyshannon. Thanks to alot of hard work Hurling is really flourishing in Buncrana at present, as the Minors and U14 squads are already County Champions. Congratulations to everyone involved.
Secondly, congratulations to the man of the moment Ryan Bradley, who was rewarded this week with an Ulster All-Star award. Ryan is truly deserving of this prestigous award, following a number a man of the match performances throughout the championship. Best of luck to Ryan and the rest of the lads in the final, the whole community is behind you. It’s been 20 years since Donegal have had this opportunity so let’s get the flags and jersey’s out and paint the entire community green and gold!
U21 Championship: Buncrana were in action in the semi-final of the U21 Championship on Sunday afternoon, when they where faced with Noamh Brid. Buncrana started brightly with two opening scores from Calvin Jones, which were followed up by a goal from Ruarí Connolly. Noamh Brid got on the score sheet with a point from Shane Walsh, however Buncrana were placed back in the driving sheet with points from Peter McLaughlin and a free from Patrick McMyler. Further points were registered for Naomh Brid by the impressive Shane Walsh, and a somewhat fortunate goal meant that Naomh Brid went in at half-time with a three point lead. HT Naomh Brid 1-7 Buncrana 1-4.
Buncrana came out attacking in the second half with Darragh O’Connor and Ruairí Connolly placing points on the board, before Shane Walsh pointed from play and added three frees for Naomh Brid. The latter stages of the second half were dominated by Noamh Brid and they ran out winners on a scoreline of 2-9 to 1-10. Despite the result the Buncrana lads can be proud of there performances this year with many making the breakthrough into the senior sides.

5 MIle Walk/Run: Buncrana GAA have launched an exciting new annual event 5 Mile Road Race/Walk on All Ireland Final Weekend, Friday 21st September in aid of the Youth Development Fund. Runners & Walkers at all levels welcomed, please pre-register by emailing buncranagaa@gmail.com.
U8 Football: U8 Football Training has now finished for the season and the management team would like to thank all we participated in a busy year for both training and blitz’s. Thanks to all parent who helped throughout the year. A note will be sent out when the training is to re-start.
U10 Football: Training continues every Friday at 7.00pm at the Scarvey and new players are always welcome.
Boys U14 Hurling: Boys U14 Hurling training takes place at the Scarvey every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7.00pm. If you haven’t played before and are interested in playing Hurling please feel free to come along.
Boys U14 Football: Training for the boys U14 team will take place on Monday evening at 5.00pm. New and returning players are always welcome.
Boys U14 & U18 Hurling: Hurling training for boys aged 14 to 18 years takes place every Saturday at the Scarvey at 3.00pm-5.00pm. New players are always welcome.
U8 and U10 Hurling: Hurling training for children under 8 and under 10 years takes place each Sunday at 11.00am. If your child would like to learn the basic skills of hurling in a safe and fun environment please come down and try it out, new players are always welcome.
Lotto: The winning numbers in the €3,040 jackpot lotto draw, which took place on Tuesday 4th September in O’Flaherty’s Bar on the Main Street, are as follows: 1, 5, 25, 29
