If you ever fancied owning your very own fire brigade, council lorry or snow plough then Donegal County Council has the answer.

The council is to hold a sale of redundant machinery which includes a range of unique council vehicles which have services the county over the years.

The sale includes six fire engines, ten gritters, three vintage rollers, a tractor, six lorries, seven council vans and a range of other machinery.

Some of the machines are being sold as scrap metal but others can be renovated.

The machines can be viewed at an open at the council yard in Lifford on Wednesday next.

Bids for the machinery can then be made to Donegal County Council by September 21st.

A spokesman for the council said “Some of the vehicles including the fire brigades are in good order and could be restored.

“People want this kind of stuff for a range of reasons and instead of letting it rot, we decided it would be better to sell it off.”

All the items for sale can be viewed on the Donegal County Council website on www.donegalcoco.ie
