Senior Men
The Seniors won last Saturday by the slimmest of margins against a young Convoy team on a scoreline of 1-9 to 13 points. Milford registered the first score of the game in the opening minutes and that would be the only time they would lead until the 55th minute. A lackluster performance in the first half allowed Convoy to sneak in for a goal midway through the second half and gave them a two point lead at halftime. The second half was a better performance as Milford’s midfield and half back line began to get on top. The last few minutes were tit for tat, Cathal McGettigan scored a great point that Milford thought wrapped up the game for them, until Convoy scored a free from beyond the 45 to level the game up again. Milford won the resultant kick out to go up the field and David Curley pointed the winning score. They now play local rivals Downings in the semi-final of the championship on Sunday. Keep an eye on the website and facebook page for details.
Ladies
Junior Championship Semi Final
Milford 1-9 Dungloe 0-6
The senior ladies qualified for the county final with a great win on Sunday against Dungloe. Playing against a very strong wind they went in at halftime 4 points down, but came out in the second half and totally dominated the game. A brilliant goal from Aisling McBride was the icing on the cake as they triumphed by 6 points. They now face a very strong St. Naul’s side in the final on Saturday. We would urge all club members to come out and support the girls in the final. This is the second final they have reached this year and they deserve to get a good crowd out to cheer them on. The final is on this Saturday 8th September at 3pm at Red Hughs ground in Killygordon.
Under 13’s
Morale boosting 8 point victory for the U13”s last Sunday over St Eunans’s. Very impressive first outing for the boys and with so many 00 and 01 boys playing out of their age it was powerful stuff. A number of quite outstanding displays by our boys. The two men in the middle (Connor Gormley and Daire Crossan) gave commanding performances.Ronan Docherty once again was superb with Conor McHugh showing well against boys a year older.
