The Karen Murphy School of Speech, Drama and Communications has helped countless young people to learn skills for life and work.
During the past year the Karen and her team have been busy delivering new programmes to many secondary schools around the county.
The school has adding two new courses to its curriculum of classes that assist your child in all aspects of life from education to future employment.
The first new course entitled Prefect Training covers the roles of school prefects, their skills and qualities and how to apply them in leadership, assertiveness, and teamwork.
The second new course being offered by The Karen Murphy School of Speech, Drama & Communications is the Student Council training which will cover rights and responsibilities, school as a community, functions of student council and choosing representatives.
Karen said: “The existing and already popular programmes delivered to secondary school include a six-week programme for TY Classes and Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA).
“These courses aim to develop students’ confidence self esteem and social skills through drama by taking part in improvisation role-play.”
The school’s interactive courses are a fantastic opportunity for students to build self-confidence and strengthen personal and academic excellence.
Caitriona Bonner of Deele College, Raphoe said: “Having used the TY programme, LCA and Prefect Training the past fours years I have witnessed our students developing communication, social and interpersonal skills, ready to step out into the world as confident individuals.”
Karen said: “It takes emotional energy to teach drama successfully and my curriculum, ideas, innovation and creativity will successfully delivery an exciting programme to your school.”
The school’s Montessori classes have been running weekly in conjunction with the ECCE programme, linking its themes and activities with The Sioltar & Aistear Curriculum set down by The Department of Education.
Karen said: “Using drama activities with young children puts them on a creative journey and helps them to develop their social cognitive and language skills.
“Drama is about our humanity in all its complexity, helping children to make sense of the world around them. We deliver a lively programme to many Montessori settings around the county linking the activities of Speech Drama & Communications to the principles, themes, aims and learning goals set out by Aistear which is the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework.”
Enrol this autumn for one of our courses and watch your students shine with confidence!
