A huge march has been organised in protest at the planned removal or transfer of the gynae ward at Letterkenny General Hospital.
Thousands of people are expected to attend the protest march which takes place in Letterkenny on Saturday, September 8th.
The protesters are to gather at the LYIT and will walk up the town where protest speeches will then be made.
A Facebook campaign at the threatened removal of the service already has more than 3,000 members after just two weeks.
Manager of Letterkenny General Hospital Sean Murphy has said the decision to considering moving the gynae services does not mean a closure of the services.
But the users of the service claim there are serious issues around the proposed move including privacy and the issue of using male nurses at any new gynae ward.
At present the gynae ward is staffed by all female nurses.
A spokesperson for the campaign said further details abou the protest march will follow.
