WAITING FOR THE FIRST RUNNERS HOME AT CARR'S OF THE DIAMOND
CITY OF Derry’s star runner Declan Reid won the Ballyare 10k on Friday night with a superb 32.06 – well over two minutes head of his nearest rival.
But the finishing time on a tough course which includes a 1k stretch known as Heartbreak Hill was well outside local man Patrick Hegarty’s record.
Ivan Toner from Letterkenny AC finished second with Gerard Gallagher from Finn Valley AC in third.
Patrick Hegarty himself is still no slouch – finishing in 40:40.
Theresa McGloin had a fantastic run, winning the women’s race and finishing 10th overall in a superb time of 36.56.
