The Gathering Ireland 2013 will host a series of Community Meetings in September 2012 throughout County Donegal.
The meetings will be led and managed by the County Donegal Gathering Steering Group, which has recently appointed Paddy Harte as Chairman.
The well-knwon Letterkenny-based executive worked as Senior Development Advisor with the International Fund for Ireland in County Donegal for over 20 years.
The IFI is an example of the power of the Irish diaspora, working at the highest level for local people. He is currently a Lecturer in Leadership and Business Management at Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT).
Upon taking up his role as Chairman of the County Donegal Gathering 2013 Steering Group, Paddy commented “The Gathering 2013 is a unique and inspiring concept and I am honoured to be part of it. It’s a real chance for us to work together and showcase our county – from our breath-taking landscape to our vibrant tradition in arts, culture, sport and heritage.
“Together, we need to reach out to our global diaspora and bring them home to a distinctive Donegal welcome. Together we will celebrate what makes us all so proud of our county. And once we get them here, we can remind them that “our hearts are like our mountains in the homes of Donegal.
“We have never done anything on this scale before and I urge local people, community volunteers, sporting organisations, educational bodies and businesses to participate in any way they can. Ní neart go cur le cheile.
“There will be community workshops throughout September in Letterkenny, Buncrana, Dungloe, Ballybofey and Donegal Town and if we all get involved, this will get The Gathering 2013 off to a great start”.
Community meetings in Co. Donegal will start at 7pm sharp at the following locations:
10th September 2012 – Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny
18th September 2012 – Inishowen Gateway Hotel, Buncrana
