Congratulations to the Rosapenna Irish Mixed Foursomes team who beat Carnalea Golf Club 4-1 at Killymoon G.C last Wednesday the in the Ulster Semi Final.
We now face Mannan Castle G.C in the Ulster Final which will take place at 3.00pm next Friday the 31st of August at Omagh Golf Club. Best of luck to the team and all the panel involved. Travelling support would be welcome.
Commiserations to our Irish Senior Cup team who were narrowly beaten in the Ulster Semi Final by Warrenpoint last Sunday at Portstewart Golf Club. Enda Kennedy defeated former Walker Cup player Paddy Gribben 6&5 and Frank Casey Jnr beat Steven Coulter 2&1 out numbers 3 & 4.
The 2nd & 5th matches both lost to leave the tie at 2-2 with the first match still going with Patrick Kennedy coming back from four holes down with five holes to play against Ulster inter provincial player Colm Campbell to finish level after 18 to go down tie holes.
Patrick drove first on the tie hole with his tee shot moving right slightly on the wind and he was unlucky to find a bad lie in the light right hand rough, Campbell hit the fairway from the tee.
Patricks approach came up short of the green to where he would pitch to 12 feet. Campbell hit his approach to 20 and two putted for his par 4. Patrick’s par effort just slipped past and Warrenpoint won the tie 3-2. They went on to play Moyola Park in the Ulster Final after lunch where they also won 3-2 with Colm Campbell again winning his match on the first tie hole.
Warrenpoint had a strong following with over 40 supporters on the day. Many thanks to the five Rosapenna players who took part and the effort made with practice rounds and to the two caddies who joined them in the Ulster semi final on Sunday.
Good luck to the Rosapenna Senior Scratch Matchplay team who play Strabane G.C away this Friday the 24th at 4.00pm in the county final first leg. Travelling support is welcome.
