FROM NEIL DOHERTY IN GLASGOW: IT was the late late show for Celtic as the Hoops snatched a draw in the fourth minute of injury time against newcomers Ross County.
The Kris Commons strike from six yardscancelled out Richard Brittain’s second half free-kick to give Celtic a point.
“I’m delighted,” said Lennon afterwards of a team missing a sackful of stars.
“We showed great character. We were missing simple chances, which seems to be a bugbear of the team. I’m pleased to come away unbeaten.”
Brittain’s goal – their first goal in the Scottish Premier League – came four minutes after the break.
Celtic hit the County woodwork on either side of the interval and it looked as though the Dingwall side were heading for a memorable win in the top flight.
“You never say never, and when we missed the quality of chances we had we were thinking it might not be our day,” said Lennon.
“The players showed great character, which should give them a boost going into Tuesday, although we’ll be expecting a far better performance overall, and I think we’ll get it.
“We were just a bit pedestrian with the ball at times, that was all. We created good chances in the first half and then in the second half we battered away and we had a lot of corners and free-kicks.
“The over-riding emotion is that I’m pleased. We’re 11 players and four strikers short; to come away not losing the game is good.”
