Donegal County Council has cut off 12 businesses across the county for not paying water bills and has vowed to cut off others if they do not pay up.
A spokesman confirmed this afternoon that it continues to carry out non domestic water disconnections, with the most recent disconnections taking place over the past few weeks in various parts of the County.
“Further disconnections are planned in the weeks ahead and the campaign to disconnect supplies where no payment is received and no effort made to engage with the Council will continue for the rest of this year.
“This action has been necessary due to a relatively small number of consumers not paying their water bills or failing to adhere to payment agreements.
“The Council has indicated that it is willing to engage with consumers who are having difficulty in paying and payment through instalments can be facilitated,” said a statement.
The Council are appealing to all consumers who have outstanding water bills to arrange to pay their bill or to make contact with staff in their local Public Service Centre to agree a payment plan.
Donegal County Council said it would like to thank all customers who pay their bills promptly.
