Senior Men
Junior Championship Quarter-Final 1st Leg
Naomh Padraig Muff 0-15 Milford 1-13
A good win for the boys in the championship despite not having their best performance, nevertheless it’s a great result to take into the second leg which is at home next Saturday. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half Milford did well and the game was very tit-for-tat until James Gallagher scored an absolute cracker of a goal to put Milford ahead at half time by 1-8 to 9. Milford started the second half poorly and let Muff back into the game through some undisciplined tackling in defense resulting in scores from frees. However, the boys stood firm and limited Muff to scoring frees from distance and had enough up front to ensure they were the victors at the final whistle. Team: Caolan Mc Gettigan, Cormac Friel, Barry McNulty, Tj Evesson, Enda McHugh (PJ Hagan, 50m), Dermot Friel (0-1), Conor McNulty, Luke Barrett (0-4), Lorcan Friel, James Gallagher (1-0), Chippie Barrett (0-3) Kevin McGee (David Curley (0-3) 35m), Cathal Mc Gettigan, Pauric Curley, Paddy Peoples. Subs: Jamie Heena, Ryan Ferry.
Ladies
The senior Ladies got back to league action last week with games away to Convoy and Dungloe. In the first match played last Wednesday they drew with Convoy on a scoreline of 1-8 to 1-8. Milford went into a seven point lead with twenty minutes left but from then on it was all Convoy and Milford had to rely on an injury time point from Aoife Gallagher to earn a share of the spoils. On Sunday the girls travelled to Dungloe for their second league game of the week. They played against a strong wind in the first half and managed to go in at half time just three points down. They conceded a soft goal just after half time but from then on were dominant and rattled off nine points without reply to win on a scoreline of 1-15 to 3-6. They now turn their attention to championship action and play Buncrana in the quarter finals of the Junior Championship on Sunday. Keep an eye on website and facebook page for details of time and venue.
Buncrana Cup Final
Congratulations to Darragh Black who was part of the Donegal U16 team that won the Buncrana cup on Saturday. Donegal defeated Tyrone by 2-9 to 2-8 in a tight match. Darragh played corner-forward and scored three points, two of which were frees.
London Olympics 50k Walk
Well done to Brendan Boyce on coming 29th in the 50k walk in the London Olympics. This was an incredible achievement, Brendan was ranked 51st going into the event, and he also knocked 3 minutes off his personal best, amazing stuff. The club would like to congratulate Brendan on this fantastic performance and hopefully make him aware just how incredibly proud of him the Wee Town is.
