And Donegal will see the best of it (they say) with temperatures from Thursday set to soar into the 20s…with up to 25C by next weekend.
BBC Northern Ireland and RTE forecasters also believe the high pressure settling over the northern half of Ireland could last for more than a week – maybe even longer.
They say it’s too early to predict well into the week after next.
But they are now confident of a decent start to this week, with the warmer drier weather settling in from Wednesday afternoon onwards.
Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday will also be good in the North West.
Here’s Met Eireann’s summary:
The outlook is for warmer weather to develop during the coming week and lasting through next weekend. There will be some rain but also warm sunshine at times bringing temperatures into the twenties. Some details:
Tuesday: Cloudy and misty over Munster with persistent rain in the southwest from morning extending eastwards (possibly northern parts of the Province staying dry). This cloud and rain extending into southern Leinster by evening. The rest of Ireland likely to stay dry on Tuesday with hazy sunshine generally and perhaps good sunshine in the north. A mild day with highest temperatures 17 to 19 degrees in light breezes (from SE to SW).
Wednesday: It is still most likely to be cloudy and misty over Munster and southern Leinster with showery outbreaks of rain and dry elsewhere with hazy sunshine or sunny spells. Very mild with highest temperatures 18 to 20 or 21 degrees in light breezes (variable in direction and calm conditions in places).
Thursday & Friday: Warm weather is most likely with maximum temperatures of 19 to 25 degrees in light breezes. Cloud amounts probably variable but most areas will be more than likely be dry with some sunny spells and just a small chance of some showers.
