Temple Street Fundraiser in Glencolmcille
CLG Naomh Columba, Glencolmcille are set to hold a novel fundraiser for Temple Street Children’s Hospital this Sunday, August 5th. At 6pm on Sunday evening the Naomh Columba under 16 county champions of 1992 will reunite to take on an Ardara/Glen select panel. The Glen men defeated their Southwest neighbours in the final twenty years ago, and although many of the players have long since departed the field of play, the weekend’s event is providing a unique opportunity for the reunion of old friends, and the renewal of old rivalries! The charity match is part of an ongoing Temple Street fundraising campaign by the club, which also sees a cycle from Donegal Town to Glencolmcille on September 9th. A large crowd is expected in the Southwest Gaeltacht village over the weekend, with the third annual Glencolmcille Agricultural Show taking place all day Saturday, followed by music in the show marquee on Saturday night. The club will host Castlederg’s finest, The Logues, live in the marquee on Sunday night at 10pm, for some lively post-match celebrations. It is hoped that everyone who does not make the journey to Croke Park on Sunday will instead head for Páirc na nGael for this worthy event.
