Water Safety Week
A big well done to all the boys and girls who participated in the local Irish Water Safety week at the blockyard beach Keadue and at the bridge in Cruit recently. A total of 46 children age 4 – 11 were awarded swim certificates and 28 of the older children age 12 – 18 received various levels of life saving awards. A second Water Safety Week will take place at the same venues on week beginning 13th August 2012.
Fundraising Ironman Triathlon
I would like to thank you all very much for your recent support which helped raise a total of 750 Euro. These funds will be divided equally between Adrian Wards fundraising efforts to return to Haiti to build homes with “Haven” and “The North West Cancer Group – supporting flights to Dublin”. I managed to complete the race in 12hrs 35 mins. I look forward to seeing Fr Pats completion time for next year 😉 Thank you all for your good wishes. Mark.

RNLI
The RNLI provide a wonderful service to our coasts and inland waterways, and rely on our contributions. Our local boat doubles as an ambulance to get people quickly off the Islands in emergencies. The RNLI will hold their annual Church Gate Collection next weekend.

Graveyard Sunday
Graveyard Sunday will be on the weekend of the 4th and 5th August. Kincasslagh Graveyard will be blessed after Mass on Saturday evening 4th August and Cruit Island graveyard after 11.00 a.m. Mass in St. Columba’s on Sunday Morning. A service will be held in Belcruit Graveyard on Sunday afternoon at 5.00 p.m.
Burtonport Festival
Well done to the organizers of this years Burtonport festival for providing the community with a much needed and deserved diversion of fun and frolics this week. We wish the Dungloe Festival all the best as they embark upon their busy week this weekend. Congratulations to Fr. Premiere showing of the short film, Mary from Dungloe: The Forbidden Love, is being shown on Tuesday 31st July at 7pm in Ionad Teampall Chroine.
This documentary film was made here in Donegal by Lugh Films, and is not to be missed.
