IT’S THE stuff that great kids’ summers are made of – and no wonder children from around Co Donegal and Ireland are flocking to the Gartan Outdoor Adventure Centre.
And with limited places left on a number of mini-camps, parents are being advised to book their places quickly.
These pictures were taken at a mini-camp last week – with kids being given the option of staying over for one night or two as part of the deal.
And what a spectacular scene they make.
The centre has launched a series of new adventure camps – both residential and day courses – with prices to suit most pockets.
But now there is a wide range of new camps – with a thrill every minute.
Four great new mini-adventures await your children where they get to learn new life skills and make new friends doing everything from building their own rafts, kayaking on Gartan Lake or having good old-fashioned fun building their own camp for the night.
Below is one example package called Thrill-A-Minit, due to start on Wednesday, August 1st.
THRILL-A-MINIT!!
The 2 1/2 day GR8Escape stay at Gartan starts on Wednesdays at 10.00. Arrive and register and then off on the Warm-Up Forest Hunt – a bit of a navigation run around for starters. Obstacle Course comes next, a real blast and VERY mucky. Bushcraft follows (this is building a camp apparently). Climbing Wall FUN-damentals for the craic. And then Camp in your Bushcraft shelter! (or stay in Centre if weather awful).
Thursday starts with Mountain biking – Learn really KOOL mountain biker skills. This is followed by Kayaking with a difference!! Try orienteering on the lake. Then its time for bows and arrows in the Archery…Just like Robin Hood. Stay Overnight at Gartan, in Centre.
Friday sees Raft Building – Learn the ropes and build your own – and then the Great Daft Raft race.
Home again 12.30 Friday (no lunch this day)- with all your wet, dirty stuff and a BRAND NEW T SHIRT FOR FREE!!
COST: €90 per person, all in. Includes the overnights and all your food! MAD PRICES for these new courses!
There’s also a two-day, one-night stay course starting on Mondays – priced at €65 per child.
