FORMER IRELAND AND LIVERPOOL legend Ray Houghton was the star of the show as the FAI visited the home of Keadue Rovers in Burtonport today.
The ex-soccer star happily chatted to club members and posed for dozens of pix with the club’s underage stars of the future.
FAI boss John Delaney was there too – but not too many kids recognised him.
Houghton however was an altogether different ball game….the Glasgow-born ex-international with strong Donegal roots was enjoying his day back in his ‘home’ county.
“It’s been very special,” he said, “we’re all really enjoying being here.”
Houghton was also on Arranmore Island today – officially opening United’s new stand.
The FAI are spending several days in Co Donegal with boss Giovanni Trapattoni and his assistant Marco Tardelli at Donegal County Council HQ in Lifford tomorrow evening.
They will announce the forthcoming squad for the World Cup qualifiers in Ballybofey on Friday.
