Although the wind got up at times at the weekend, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky or a drop of rain on Saturday or Sunday as open week got off to a fine start.
Saturday kicked off with a four ball better ball and was won by local young guns David Edwards and Samuel Anderson, with Ramelton duo of Sean Duffy and Martin Duffy in second, and Ballyare’s Philip Durning and Chuck McTaggart taking third spot.
Sunday’s single stableford was won by Kerryman Ivan Clifford by a single point over second placed Noel Kiernan, and Sean Duffy in third. Nines went to David Edwards and Hugh O’Hare, leaving a lot of the ‘regular favourites’ slow starters in the race for prizes, but plenty more to play for with a single stableford today (Thurs), the popular three ball Rumble on Friday, three ball scramble on Saturday, finishing off with a single stroke competition on Sunday.
After Sunday’s battle has finished, presentation of prizes takes place in the clubhouse, including Golfer of the Week, which is wide open at this stage.
