Naomh Columba 16.07.2012
Well done to both our seniors and reserves on their good wins over Aodh Ruadh on Saturday evening. This sees both teams at the top of their divsions. We host Downings this weekend, with games set for Saturday evening at Páirc na nGael. Reserves throw in at 6pm, and seniors at 7.30pm. Our ladies were unlucky to lose out in Lifford last Wednesday evening, despite a strong showing in the second half. The return leg takes place this Friday evening, with a 7.30pm throw-in at Páirc na nGael. In underage news, our under 12s executed a fantastic display in Ardara on Friday evening last, to overcome Kilcar in the Southwest Final. Well done to everyone involved in another great underage victory for the club. At the time of going to press, both our under 14s and minors were due to be in action on Wednesday evening. Our minors are due to play Bundoran in the league final, while our under 14s travel to Ballintra to face Naomh Bríd in the championship. Our under 8s will host a blitz on Saturday morning at 11am. Anyone interested in helping out on the day is urged to come along. CLG Naomh Columba, in conjunction with The Reveller Bar, Donegal Town, are organising a charity cycle as part of our fundraising efforts for Temple Street Childrens Hospital. The cycle will depart from the Diamond in Donegal Town at 12 noon on Sunday, September 9th, and will make its way to Glencolmcille. Estimated time of arrival in Glen is 5-6pm. A barbeque and table quiz will be held afterwards in the Glen Head Tavern. We are currently looking for cyclists to take part in the challenge. All participants will be given sponsorship cards, and asked to raise a minimum of €50. Please get in touch with us via facebook., or call into the Reveller Bar for further details. On August 5th, the Glen under 16 team of 1992 will reunite to play a Glen/Ardara select, with all funds raised going towards Temple Street. The game will start at 6pm, and will be followed on Sunday night by music in the marquee by the Logues. The event promises to be entertaining, and we hope to see good support from the community. Tickets for the Ulster final will be distributed from the clubhouse on Thursday evening, and we would ask that all tickets are paid for on collection. We wish Jim and the lads the very best of luck on Sunday. Tír Chonaill abú!
