Naomh Columba 09.07.2012
Our seniors earned another two league points on Saturday evening, with a three point win over Buncrana. We are now placed second in the table, with a game in hand. The reserves were equally successful, running out ten point winners over the same opposition, and leaving them in joint first position with this weekend’s opponents, Aodh Ruadh. Both teams travel to Ballyshannon this Saturday evening, throw-in times: 6pm and 7.30pm. At the time of going to press our ladies were due to travel to Lifford for their first championship outing on Wednesday evening. In underage news, our under 14 lads enjoyed a 4 point victory over Naomh Ultan last Wednesday, in the second round of the championship. They now face Naomh Bríd on Wednesday 18th, at 7.30pm in Ballintra. Saturday’s under 12 Southwest semi-final was conceded by Na Rossa. We now face Cill Chartha in the final, details to follow. At the time of going to press our minors were due to play the divisional final on Thursday evening, against either Naomh Bríd or Bundoran. Throw-in was set for 7.30pm, with venue to be confirmed. The August Bank Holiday promises to be a bumper weekend in the Glen, with a busy line-up of events planned. On Sunday, August 5th, the Naomh Columba under 16 County Champions of 1992 will reunite to take on a ‘superstar select’ panel. This event is a fundraiser for the very worthy Temple Street Children’s Hospital, and promises to be a great follow-up to the previous days Agricultural Show. Throw-in at 6pm. Sunday night sees Castlederg’s finest, The Logues, take to the stage for Live in the Marquee, Glen style! A great weekend’s craic is guaranteed, and we look forward to welcoming you all to Páirc na nGael. Níor bhaineadh lotto na seachtaine seo caite.
