There was only one show at Letterkenny Golf Club this week and that was the Sandra show.
On Tuesday our Lady Vice captain Sandra McMonagle tamed the course with a majestic 43 points to win the generously sponsored Ruths Pharmacy competition. Many thanks to Siobhan who has always been a great supporter of the Ladies Club. Runner up was Marian O’Sullivan with 37 points and in her wake was Mary Murray, also with 37 points B.O.T.
The Little Angels Open was held on Thursday, an event we are always proud to be associated with. The Little Angels school in September 2012 will be the largest school of its kind in the North West, catering for over 70 children with learning disabilities and its success, is thanks in no small part to the constant fundraising, undertaken by so many people associated with the school ,in particular Phil and John Murray. John presented the prize-winners on the night as Phil was still trying to come to terms with a dodgy golf battery which I fear needs replacing. Sandra McMonagle, still red hot from her victory on Tuesday won with 37 points. Runner Up Anne Cannon,35 points, Gross Marian O’Sullivan 25 gross points, 3rd Cynthia Fuery 35 points B.O.T Front 9 Marian Keating 23 points, Back 9 Anne Condon 18 points. 2’s Karen McGlinchey (5th).

Golf Knowledge and rules: The Tee Box.
In Match play – playing outside the tee area: The opponent can immediately re-call the shot, cancel the stroke, and play another ball within the teeing ground without penalty.
In Stroke – playing outside the tee area: The player receives a two stroke penalty and must correct her error by playing another ball from the teeing ground. The player may be disqualified if she doesn’t correct her error before a stroke on the next hole, or if playing her last hole must announce her intention of correcting the error before leaving the green. Strokes played outside of the teeing ground do not count as part of the competitors score.
Playing from the wrong teeing ground (or markers) is the same as playing from outside the teeing ground.
