One of Ireland’s best reggae bands Bréag, from Belfast, join local music stars, In Their Thousands from Na Dúnaibh, and Andrew Carr from Bun Beag at the monthly Cabaret Craiceáilte, Tigh Hiúdaí, An Bun Beag on Saturday.
Bréag have been playing a mixture of reggae and ska for nearly the last 20 years, and are regular visitors to the Gaoth Dobhair based Irish language Cabaret.
The Cabaret attracts visitors from all over the country to the Gaoth Dobhair Gaeltacht, on a monthly basis, and is also held as part of some of Ireland’s biggest festivals, the Electric Picnic, Fleadh Feirste, St Patricks Festival , Feile Oriel and Oireachtas na Gaeilge.

Downings based, In Their Thousands, from Ros Guill, appear at this month’s Cabaret as well, having taken up the Craiceáilte challenge to perform their set in Irish. Lead singer Declan Mc Clafferty has already performed live on the ‘Ronan Beo’ radio show on RTE Ráidió na Gaeltachta, but this Saturdays gig will be the band’s first gig singing in the Irish language.
Their music has been compared to the Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver, and great things are expected from the Ros Guill boys in the near future.
Another Donegal singer to take the Craiceáilte challenge, is Andrew Carr, a young pop singer from An Bun Beag, who is studying music in Bristol University. The Cabaret Craiceáilte is voluntary Irish project, set up to promote the language, Irish language music, and an Irish language social/entertainment scene.The cabaret kicks off Tigh Hiúdaí , An Bun Beag, this Saturday, at 9.30pm.
