James Nolan, 21, an environmental engineering student from Blessington in Co Wicklow was last seen in the early hours of Sunday in Bydgoszcz, about 130km northeast of Poznan.
He and his friends, who were travelling in a camper van, stopped in Bydgoszcz on their way back from Gdansk to Poznan when Mr Nolan became separated from the group.
More than 100 Polish police officers spent four days searching for the Irishman, backed up with local volunteers including taxi drivers and Irish fans as well as members of Mr Nolan’s family.
His body was identified this evening after being recovered from a river in the town, TVN24 in Poland reported.
James is pictured above with his parent at his recent 21st birthday party.
“It was so sad to hear about one of our fans James Nolan,” said Shay.
“My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends,” he added.
