GARDAI arrested six people for dangerous driving at the weekend, donegaldaily.com can reveal.
And one arrest described as “significant” was thanks to members of the public, we have learned.
Sources say three of the six arrested were “caught red-handed” as they were performing so-called ‘doughnuts’ on public roads.
One of those was arrested by Milford Gardai after a complaint from residents in the early hours of the morning.
The man who was detained is said to have a history of dangerous driving.
Gardai witnessed his actions and arrested him at the scene.
It’s understood officers were happy with the general policing in and around the Donegal Rally.
The six arrests took place in the Letterkenny and Milford areas.
There was a visible increase in ‘doughnut’ tyre tracks on many roads around the county over the past few days.
Another 11 people were arrested over the weekend for public order offences.
