Congratulations to Ryan Bradley and the Donegal Senior Football Team on their comprehensive defeat of Derry on Saturday! Congratulations also to club president Denis Bonner on his ninetieth birthday last week. Well done to clubmen Adam Duffy, Philip Harkin and Michael Gallagher who were in the Donegal under 21 squad that played Tyrone last Wednesday night with Michael hitting 2-1 on the night.
Under 14 Hurling: Congratulations to the under 14 hurlers who beat Ballyshannon 7-8 to 3-3 in the championship final on Sunday night. Well done lads!
Fundraising Competition: Buncrana GAA are launching an exciting new competition asking you to predict the results of a number of important sporting events this year, such as the All-Ireland Football and Hurling finals, Golf, Olympic Games etc. Entrants will be entered into a league format with points awarded for correct predictions, with prizes of 600euro, 300euro and 100euro on offer. U12 Football:
Buncrana U-12 boys football played a 12+1 tournament (15 aside) in Letterkenny on Saturday. Drawn in a group with St.Eunan’s and Ardara they were unlucky not to make it out of the group and into the final. Beaten by St.Eunan’s the overall tournament winners by a point the lads will regrated the missed chances in the opening ten minutes. Down to fourteen players in the second half the Buncrana team showed great character to press St.Eunans to the very last kick and unlucky not to draw. Next up was Ardara and it was another super encounter winning by six points this game was a great test for our boys and a good learning experience for both management and players. Best for Buncrana were Ciaran Doherty, Mathew Wilson, Aaron Craig in defence and Keegan Hegarty, Ben Bradley up front.
Ladies Football: Buncrana take-in Termon in the first leg of the Junior championship on Sunday 8th July. There will be a challenge match this Wednesday at 7.30pm at the Scarvey.
U6 FUNdamentals: FUNdamentals for boys and girls aged 5 & 6 years (or turning 5 during 2012) will continue on Fridays at the Scarvey between 6.15pm and 7.00pm. Please could all children be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the session.
U8 Football: U8 Football Training continues every Friday and will now take place at the Scarvey from 6.30pm – 7.30pm. Parents, if your child is interested in having fun whilst learning the basic skills of gaelic football please come down and try it out.
U10 Football: Training continues every Friday at 7.00pm at the Scarvey and new players are always welcome.
Boys U14 Hurling: Boys U14 Hurling training takes place at the Scarvey every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7.00pm. If you haven’t played before and are interested in playing Hurling please feel free to come along.
Boys U14 Football: Training for the boys U14 team will take place on Monday evening at 5.00pm.New and returnig players are always welcome.
Boys U14 & U18 Hurling: Hurling training for boys aged 14 to 18 years takes place every Saturday at the Scarvey at 3.00pm-5.00pm. New players are always welcome.
U8 and U10 Hurling: Hurling training for children under 8 and under 10 years takes place each Sunday at 11.00am. If your child would like to learn the basic skills of hurling in a safe and fun environment please come down and try it out, new players are always welcome.
Lotto: The winning numbers in the €2,820 jackpot lotto draw, which took place on Tuesday 12th June in O’Flaherty’s Bar on the Main Street, are as follows: 05-11-17-18. There was no jackpot winner this week, however there were five €20 prizes which went to the following lucky participants:
