The Papal Legate spent last night making a pilgrimage to Donegal’s Lough Derg retreat centre.
Cardinal Marc Ouellet travelled to Lough Derg at the request of Pope Benedict XVI.
Cardinal Ouellet is making the overnight penitential visit as part of a public expression of penance and repentance for the abuse of children by clerics in the Irish and universal Catholic church.
The Cardinal is expected to visit Knock Shrine on Saturday.
