The Under 14 camogie team played against Carndonagh on Friday last in Tir Conaill Park in the first round of their defence of the league title. They displayed tremendous teamwork and determination throughout the game. Thanks to all to turned out to support the girls and a special thanks to HomeInstead who sponsored the new jerseys which the team wore on Friday evening for the first time.
The Under 10’s footballers took part in the Michael Shannon Memorial Tournament in Ballyshannon Saturday last June 9th with Team 1 beating Erne Gaels (Beleek), Melvin Gaels (Kinlough), Bundoran and Aodh Ruadh qualifying them for the final for the first time in twelve years. Unfortunately we got beat by Aodh Ruadh but there was some great football played by all involved with fantastic individual skills on display, so hard luck to our brave nine lads on the day. Team 2 also made it to the B Final meeting Melvin Gaels and they unfortunately lost out as well. Again this was a very good performance by all the players involved. This was a great achievement for the club to reach both finals of this tournament. Congratulations to all, hard luck and well done.
The Under 10’s have also taken part in two blitzes this season, starting in Dunkineely May 19th and at home in Tir Conaill Park Saturday June 2nd. Our first home blitz saw us winning best club award as both teams beat Bundoran and Naomh Ultan and the cup being presented to Aaron Culloo and Conor Mc Allister both captains on the day of Team 1 and Team 2. Very well done to all the Under 10’s. Many thanks on the day to parents that made sandwiches or helped out in any way and family that supported and cheered on the boys. Coaching continues on Tuesday evenings 6.30 – 7.30 pm.
The Under 8’s took part in another very successful blitz on Saturday last June 9th in Tir Conaill Park. Four Masters plus St. Nauls and Naomh Ultan competed very well with the 50 kids togged out getting plenty of football and enjoyment out of the 7/8-a-side games.
