If you live in Ardara then you can consider yourself very lucky today.
The Donegal town is amongst the short-list of 25 places in Ireland named by The Irish Times as ‘The Best Place To Live.”
Although most of us consider Ardara a town, it has been entered in the village category.
It is the only place in Co Donegal to make the final cut of 25 of places divided into villages, towns, suburbs and cities.
Other places around the country short-listed by the judges include Westport, Athlone, Cork, Sandymount (Dublin), Greystones (Wicklow) and Sligo Town.
Ardara was chosen for the final short-list after an entry by local resident Jenny McHugh.
Jenny said of Ardara “There is surely no better place to live than Ardara, which is probably why generations of other people like myself have chosen to raise our families here, safe in the knowledge that there will always be a smiling face or a helping hand around the corner.”
