Finn Park was the fitting venue last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday when it hosted the Fran Fields Donegal Creameries inaugural Schools Cup.
The Cup which is the climax of the first half of the years end to the Finn Harps Schools Programme – the Programme which sees Finn Harps Players and Coaches working on twenty eight schools all over Donegal has proved a huge success.
The Programme which was the brainchild of Finn Harps Community Officer John Campbell has proved to be exceptionally popular .
John explains: “Since it was launched in February there has been numerous additional requests from additional schools to join the programme.
“We will assess the applications over the summer and see can we include extra schools . Finance will be a issue we fund the programme from our own fundraising, so that is a factor. In fact we have a fundraising 5K walk and run starting at 2pm next Sunday to raise funds and we would welcome people to participate.”
This weeks Competition had the additional attraction that all the trophies in the Three School categories were named after Finn Harps first Chairman and founder Fran Fields.
The Winners on Wednesday in Category A Schools up to 90 Children were Boys, Fintra Killybegs and Mintnadea Ardara.
Thursday in Section B School with less than 160 pupils the winners were Boys Drumkeen NS and Glenties were the Winners.
Friday in Section C the over one hundred and sixty Category Kilmacrennan NS were the victors in both boys and Girls.
Finn Harps would like to thank all the School .Teachers, Pupils and volunteers who helped make the Competition a outstanding success over the week.
The award for best player of tournament Boy and Girl will be revealed at half time in the Longford game on Saturday 23rd June.
