Buncrana GAA Notes For Week Ending Sunday 17th June
Congratulations: The club would like to congratulate Aisling and David McConnell on the recent birth of their baby girl.
Fundraising Competition: Buncrana GAA are launching an exciting new competition asking you to predict the results of a number of important sporting events this year, such as the All-Ireland Football and Hurling finals, Golf, Olympic Games etc. Entrants will be entered into a league format with points awarded for correct predictions, with prizes of 600euro, 300euro and 100euro on offer. Entry cards will be available this week from club members priced 10euro. More information and further updates will be available on facebook.com/buncranagaa.
U8 Football: Buncrana hosted the second leg of there U8 Blitz schedule for 2012 on Sat 2nd June. A total of six teams took to the field, two from Buncrana, two from Letterkenny Gaels and two from Convoy. A total of 17 children from the club took part and proudly donned the club jersey in several entertaining games. Displaying great skill for their years the children were a credit to the club. They included: Luke McLafferty, Fiachra Gill, Fionn McColgan, Niall Breslin, Ethan O’Toole, Conor Graham, Fergal Craig, Patrick Duffy, Liam McCay, Shane Sarsfield, Caolan Casey, Liam Jordan, Sean Daly, Joshua McDonagh, Rory Scott, Oran McBride and Daire McColgan. We would like to thanks the clubs for travelling and the parents for helping provide food and service after the Blitz. Training as usual Fri – 6.30pm-7.30pm – all welcome.
U12 Girls Football: The U12 girls attended their first blitz on Saturday in Castlefinn, teams from Letterkenny Gaels, St. Eunan’s & Robert Emmetts took part.
The girls gave a great account of themselves & an enjoyable day was had by all. The same teams will meet again next Saturday at 11.00am, when Buncrana are the hosts at The Scarvey. Hope to see a good crowd down to support the girls, everyone very welcome.
U6 FUNdamentals: FUNdamentals for boys and girls aged 5 & 6 years (or turning 5 during 2012) will continue on Fridays at the Scarvey between 6.15pm and 7.00pm. Please could all children be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the session.
U8 Football: U8 Football Training continues every Friday and will now take place at the Scarvey from 6.30pm – 7.30pm. Parents, if your child is interested in having fun whilst learning the basic skills of gaelic football please come down and try it out.
U10 Football: Training continues every Friday at 7.00pm at the Scarvey and new players are always welcome.
Boys U14 Hurling: Boys U14 Hurling training takes place at the Scarvey every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7.00pm. If you haven’t played before and are interested in playing Hurling please feel free to come along.
Boys U14 Football: Training for the boys U14 team will take place on Monday evening at 5.00pm.New and returnig players are always welcome.
Boys U14 & U18 Hurling: Hurling training for boys aged 14 to 18 years takes place every Saturday at the Scarvey at 3.00pm-5.00pm. New players are always welcome.
U8 and U10 Hurling: Hurling training for children under 8 and under 10 years takes place each Sunday at 11.00am. If your child would like to learn the basic skills of hurling in a safe and fun environment please come down and try it out, new players are always welcome.
Steward Training: Training for Stewards will take place in Jacksons Hotel on Monday the 11th of June, from 8.00pm – 10.00pm. No clubs will be considered for playoff games or neutral venues this year unless they provide a minimum of Four stewards at this training course. Any individuals who are interested in taking part please contact club secretary.
Lotto: The winning numbers in the €2,800 jackpot lotto draw, which took place on Tuesday 5th June in O’Flaherty’s Bar on the Main Street, are as follows: 10-12-15-16. There was no jackpot winner this week, however there were five €20 prizes which went to the following lucky participants:
