Shay Given WILL play for the Republic of Ireland against Croatia on Sunday in our opening game in the Euro 2012 Championships.
That was the bold prediction of goalkeeping coach Alan Kelly amidst speculation that the Lifford man is struggling to be fit for the game.
Kelly said “The determination Shay has shown over 16 years playing for Ireland is not going to go away overnight.
“Anyone who saw the game against Hungary would not question his fitness or form.”
He did confirm that while did sit out training in the past couple of days, Shay will train before Sunday’s big game.
Meanwhile thousands of football fans from across Donegal are beginning their long trek to Poland for championships as the countdown reaches fever pitch.
