A large crowd of runners and walkers is expected for the inaugural Glenswilly 5K which takes place on Tuesday, June 19th next.
A committee set up for the event is hoping for a good turn-out with all proceeds going directly back into Glenswilly GAA Club’s underage teams.
There will be a range of prizes for runners and plenty of spot prizes for walkers on the night.
Registration for the race will take place on the night before the race and from 6pm on the evening of the race which starts at 7.30pm.
Organisers of the race say the emphasis of the event is fun and they want as many people as possible to sign up.
The entry fee for adults is €8 and children are free.
Refreshments will be provided on the night and there will be changing facilities at showers available at Glenswilly GAA Club after the race.
Organiser Eddie Crawford has promised a flat course will suit all runners and walkers!
“This is the first Glenswilly 5K and we are appealing to as many people as possible to come out on the night.
“There’ll be a great atmosphere and everyone will be made more than welcome in the Glen.
“Most of us are either part-time joggers or full-time walkers. The emphasis will be getting out there on the night and having a bit of fun.
“Everyone will be catered for and encouraged to take part.
“With the good weather, we are hoping that as many people as possible come out and join us.
“The bottom line is that this is for a great cause in our community,” he said.
