Termon GAA Notes: Week Ending 22/05/12
Minor Board:
Congrats to Barry Gallagher and Anthony Grant who played at half time in the Cumann na mBunscoil game in Breffni Park in Cavan on Sunday.
Our U14s took on St Eunans last Wednesday evening and were unlucky to be defeated.
Our U8s took part in a blitz last Saturday. Thanks to Paddy, David and Coleen for looking after the teams and thanks to the parents for bringing children along. In what is a very encouraging sign we had 30 players there making up 4 teams.
The U 12s recent good run of results came to an end in O Donnel Park on Monday evening with both teams beaten by the host St Eunans teams. In the first game Termon fought back well in the second half and despite some good late scores from Evan Coleman, St Eunans had done enough to hold on for victory. The second game was a good contest with high skill levels on both side with the block being a prominent feature. St Eunans seemed to come by the scores a little easier than the Termon boys did and were deserving winners. Next up for this squad are games Vs Letterkenny Gaels at 6.30pm next Monday at the Burn Road.
Our U10 boys squads will have thier first blitz of 2012 in O Donnell Park this Friday evening. All boys are asked to be at the venue by 6pm please.
Coaching as usual this Saturday for U6s, U8s and U10s boys and girls and U12 Girls.
Clean up of Club dressing Rooms this Saturday at 10.30am during coaching if anyone is available to help as we have first home blitz on at 2nd.
Ladies Board:
Commiserations to all the Termon members involved last Saturday when a strong Tyrone team defeated Donegal to win the Ulster Minor Championship.
The Senior ladies had a comprehensive victory over Moville last Sunday in an excellent team and panel performance.
The Junior ladies made the journey to Buncrana and despite a great comeback were defeated by the home side. Tara McDaid and Aileen McGlynn best for Termon. The juniors ladies are fixed to play Red Hughes this weekend while the seniors are down to play Glenfin.
Congratulations to Geraldine McLaughlin who was selected on the Bord Gais Division 1 National League team of the year last week.
Mens Board:
Our Seniors and reserves had no league games last weekend but have a busy weekend ahead. They play Urris this Friday at the Burn Road and then both teams will travel to Downings this Sunday in what is a very important weekend in the league season.
The club would like to thank Letterkenny Skip hire for their continued sponsorship of the Senior team which they renewed recently. Visit their website at www.lshrecycling.ie for all their services and offers.
Lotto:
The Lotto draw took place in McClaffertys Churchill on Friday last. The numbers drawn were 7, 16, 19 and 26. There was no match 3 winner. The open draw winners were Bridget McBrearty, Lisa Gallagher and Anne Doherty. Next week’s draw takes place in the Glenveagh Inn, Sara Harkin and Martina Kelly are the coordinators. The jackpot is now €1100.
Burn Road Timetable
All managers are to take note of the calendar for the use of the Burn Road now in place at the Dressing Rooms. Any additional trainings and games times are to be cleared with Martin Friel. This is to ensure the pitch isn’t double booked in the busy weeks and months ahead.
