Last Sunday, ten warriors from Otway, and Portsalon and many other clubs across the province, went to battle the elements in Greencastle Golf Club in the qualifying round of the Pierce Purcell cup competition.
Not long into the round it became clear that the elements were going to win, but the ten pour souls battled on, and regrouped to exchange tales of 9 irons coming backwards, nailed drives going 120 yards, and balls on greens blowing from 6 inches to 16 feet from the pin.
That was last week, and this week we hope for mediteranean type weather on Saturday for the annual Otway 100, a classic format with four members per team.
A time sheet will be in operation, and bookings can be made with Patricia Drislane on 087 2314332.
Refreshments will be on offer in the clubhouse afterwards, followed by prizegiving.
