Minister for Education Ruairi Quinn is to be met with protesting parents when he opens Finn Valley College in Stranorlar this Friday.
In what should be a red-letter day for the school, a silent protest has also been planned to coincide with the opening.
The protest is being held by the Finn Valley School Transport Action Group.
The protest group are up in arms about new Department of Transport rules which will see children only get free transport if they go to the post primary school nearest to their homes.
The group, made up of concerned parents, have been requesting meeting with both Transport Minister Ciaran Cannon and Education Minister Ruairi Quinn for a number of months to no avail.
The group had been hoping to meet Minister Quinn when he opens the new school this Friday.
A spokesperson for the protest group said they are not going away nor will they be fobbed off.
The group’s Facebook site said last night “Still awaiting replies from Minister Cannon and Minister Quinn re meeting the committee, they were sent reminders again today. We have our facts and figures ready! If they do not meet with us soon we will be taking further action.”
