Donegal Under 16 Inter League team advanced to the All Ireland Semi Final after a hard fought 2-0 victory over the Mayo League on Sunday afternoon. First half goals from Jordan Toland and Darragh Black book’s Anthony Gorman’s lads a semi final spot this weekend against the Kildare League.
The game played at the home of Bonagee United was somewhat overshadowed by a shoulder injury to centre defender Sean Hume midway through the first half , which most likely will result in him being unavailable for the semi final.
Donegal’s first goal came after just 4 minutes- Dale Gorman played a defence splitting pass to Toland, who found space to fire past the Mayo keeper from 12 yards out. And the Donegal lads doubled their advantage in the 27th minute courtesy of Darragh Black after great wing play from young Cormac Callaghan.
Elsewhere, Donegal’s Under 13’s defeated the Kildare League in their All Ireland Semi Final , but their was disappointment when the Under 12’s lost their semi to the Midlands League.
