Scoil Chartha Kilcar 5-6 v Kilmacrennan NS 1-10:
A windswept Páirc Tabhóige, Glenfin was the setting for the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Roinn 3 boys final featuring Scoil Chartha, Kilcar against Kilmacrennan NS. This was the first time in a number of years that these two schools from opposite ends of the county came together in direct opposition at schools level. An early exchange of scores on the board helped both sides to settle into their stride. The majority of the first half was nip and tuck with never more than two points between them. However, this was to change shortly before half time when the Kilcar boys struck with two quick- fire goals to put them into a commanding lead coming up to the half time whistle.
Kilmacrennan started the second half with a couple of early scores to narrow the gap to four. However, the Kilcar boys went up the field within a few minutes and struck the vital third goal to put them well in control. Try as they might the boys from Kilmacrennan could not get back into the game and it was the boys from the south-west who were celebrating at the final whistle. Great team performances from both sets of players with a high standard of skills being displayed throughout which were a credit to their schools and teachers.
