TWO County Donegal schools which were due to get vital building work carried out have been told it won’t happen.
Scoil Naisiunta Gort a Choirce and Stranorlar National School had initially been included in the five-year school building capital programme.
But Education Minister Ruairi Quinn has dropped both schools from the scheme, meaning their next chance of even making the list is 2017.
And if they do, it could be up to five years after that before any works take place.
Senator Brian O Domhnaill raised the issue during an adjournment debate in the Seanad last night.
“These schools were given approval by the previous Government but dropped by Minister Quinn,” he said.
“This means that the projects will not proceed to 2017 at least which is a dreadful state of affairs.”
