Last Sunday was another well supported club competition in dry, but at times blustery conditions.
Some early starters set the pace, but it was the late arrivals that ended up fighting it out for the title. In the end it came down to two regular competitors who took first and second position, battling right down to the wire to decide who was to take the honours.
Brothers Brendan and Gerry Gallagher, accompanied by two spectators, were level at the turn, and went down the back straight neck and neck, with Gerry just taking it by a nose, exactly the same finale as the Grand National the day before.
Both players fought for every point in the final holes, but Gerry’s putting on the last sealed it for him, finishing on an impressive 44 pts, with Brendan 2 pts back on 42. Well done to both in what was a very enjoyable spectacle to the two onlookers playing with them.
Next on the agenda in Otway is the annual 3 club competition on Sunday 23rd April which is a single stableford format, and normally involves a putter, an iron and a wood, or not ???
