There was mixed news for both our senior and reserve teams at the weekend away to Glenfin. In the first game of the day the reserves pulled of a great 2-11 to 1-7 victory over their opponents.
The lads started brightly with points from Steven McDaid and Brendan Griffith and when Kevin Timoney goaled mid-way through the first half things were looking good for Naomh Brid. Despite the concession of a penalty which was well finished by Glenfin, Naomh Brid tagged on another goal and a few points to run out comfortable winners in the end.
It was a great team performance and the lads will hope to build on this result again this weekend. In the Senior match, points from David Walsh and Paul McGrory helped Naomh Brid into an early lead. A penalty save from Stephen Doherty helped the lads keep their noses in front at the break on a scoreline of 0-7 to 0-4. Glenfin started the second half brightest and took the lead mid-way through the half.
Naomh Brid registered their first and only score of the half with 10 minutes remaining to close the gap to one point but Glenfin managed to see out the game and the scoreline finished Naomh Brid 0-8 Glenfin 0-10.
Well done to the 7 underage coaches who completed the foundation coaching course in the club over the weekend. Thanks to Mick Murphy, Seamus McInaw and John Travers for their guidance.
Well done to Calum Gallagher who started and scored for the Donegal Minor team on Saturday against Antrim.
U8, 10’s and 12’s training will take place this Saturday morning at the race field in Murvagh at 10am.
