THIS is the stunning picture which has landed a young Co Donegal photographer a global award.
Paul Doherty, 23, from Kilmacrennan was named Irish wedding photographer of the year just a few weeks ago.
Now the talented snapper has proved that he’s not just great at capturing precious family moments.
He knows a thing or two about superb pictures when he’s out and about – and even when that’s a glacier in the Arctic!
This image was taken deep inside an ice cave underneath a Glacier. As the Glacier moves it collects dirt and grit but in places where it doesn’t collect this it allows the light to travel through the turquoise Ice creating amazing colours and shapes.
The picture was named best picture today at the worldwide photography site www.earthshots.org.
And now Paul’s picture has been liked on Facebook in dozens of countries around the world!
Paul told donegaldaily.com: “I was obviously delighted to have won the Best Photographer award for weddings in Ireland.
“But to win such a prestigious worldwide award like this is incredible.”
He added: “It was taken on the 22nd of February this year in Skaftafell, Iceland. It was taken deep inside a Glacier, I had to crawl to get in there but it was worth it.”
