MARIE KEATING FOUNDATION
On Thursday 19th April the Family Resource Centre in conjunction with Donegal Local Development Company is again hosting the Marie Keating Foundation Mobile Unit, which will be located in The Diamond, Raphoe from 10.30am to 3.30pm. The Family Resource Centre would like to take this opportunity to thank Margaret Doherty, Project Officer with DLDC for her kind support and co-operation.
The Marie Keating Foundation aims to increase awareness and knowledge of cancer and related issues to all sectors of the community. The Unit is equipped with take home information leaflets on each of the key cancers and the nurse provides practical advice on healthy lifestyle choices. The Family Resource would encourage the local community to visit the Mobile Unit to become more informed about early detection and self awareness techniques.
SOCIAL CLUB
The Family Resource Centre has recently established a social club for people with physical, sensory or learning disability. The club, which meets in the Family Resource Centre on every second Thursday evening from 6.15-7.15pm, is a joint initiative with the Community Group Home, Ballyduff Park, Lifford. Activities include bocce, curling, pool, table- tennis, air-hockey, Wii-fit and badminton. The Family Resource Centre would like to thank Raphoe Curling Club for the use of its equipment and John Hunter for facilitating the badminton workshops. COOKING ON A BUDGET
Raphoe Family Resource Centre is planning to run a “Cooking on a Budget” course. We are hoping to run this course at the end of April/start of May. If you would like to participate in this course please contact us on 0749145796.
HEALTHY WALKS
Healthy Walks take place every Thursday morning at 9.30am starting from Raphoe Family Resource Centre. So if you’re in or around Raphoe come and join us for an enjoyable walk around the town to keep fit! Everyone welcome!!

COUNSELLING SERVICES
Raphoe Family Resource Centre offers a free and confidential weekly counselling service to the general public. This person-centred service is for those experiencing Bereavement/Loss, Separation, Abuse, Mental Health Difficulties and issues around sexuality. The service operates on an appointment basis only.

LITTLE SMILES WITH BIG DREAMS
Little Smiles with Big Dreams is a friendly baby and toddler group situated in Raphoe Family Resource Centre. We are open every Wednesday morning from
10.30 – 12 noon. Little Smiles with Big Dreams is a group that focus on fun for the kids and the opportunity for parents, grandparents and extended family to have discussions with other adults. It is a great way to introduce your child to a social environment while you can discuss parenting tips with others. There is no charge but your kiddies will enjoy playing with all our lovely toys, having messy play, singing and dancing and a light lunch is provided.
RAPHOE BOXING CLUB
Congratulations goes to Raphoe club boxer Christy Stokes who turned in a clinical display of guts and courage when he outpointed Co. Down boxer Matthew Muirnion to win the Ulster schoolboy title on Saturday last in the Tyholl and Complex, Co. Monaghan. The Cathedral Hill boxer now goes forward to the All-Ireland finals at the National Stadium, Dublin from 9th to 4th April and everyone at the Raphoe club extend best wishes to Christy for every success at these championships.
The offices at the Raphoe club would like to extend a sincere thanks to all the boxers’ coaches and officials, Mike Kelly (Scaffolding and Building Contractor), Austin Daly (Stad Oil Lifford) and to all the generous business people of Raphoe, to Ronnie Goudie of the Cathedral Hall, all the ladies in the canteen and ticket sellers, all the special guests and to all the general public who turned out to make the recent Billy “Spider” Kelly memorial tournament a huge success.
COFFEE MORNING
A coffee morning will be held on Thursday 12th April from 10.30am to 3pm at the home of Jean and Liam Reynolds, Oakfield Raphoe. All proceeds in aid of “Relay for Life – Irish Cancer Society”. Everyone welcome, your support will be much appreciated.
RAPHOE FRIDAY SENIORS CLUB:
Raphoe Friday Seniors Club meets every Friday in the Volt House Hall from 10.30am until 1pm. Come along and enjoy the tea and craic. New members welcome. For further information please call the Volt House on 9173966 or just call in any Friday. You will be very welcome.
