Sunday 1st April 2012
Palm Sunday
We will celebrate God’s love for us in the SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION (CONFESSION) as follows this week.
Monday and Tuesday from 10.30 am to 12 noon and 8 pm.
Wednesday from 10.30 am to 6 pm and on
Wednesday Evening after the 7.30 pm Mass we will have our
PENITENTIAL SERVICE followed by our last Confession for Holy Week.
Pope John Paul II introduced five new mysteries to the Rosary. These are the Luminous Mysteries (or sometimes called the Mysteries of Light). They are:
Christ’s Baptism in the Jordan.
Christ’s Self Revelation at the Marriage Feast of Cana.
Christ’s Proclamation of the Kingdom of God with his call to conversion.
Christ’s Transfiguration.
Christ’s Institution of the Eucharist.
The Glorious Mysteries, the Joyful Mysteries and the Sorrowful Mysteries are represented on medallions around the Cathedral Sanctuary Area. It is our intention to complete the set and install the Mysteries of Light. These five new Mysteries (paintings) have been commissioned and they will be introduced to the Cathedral probably in July.
The total cost of the paintings and to have them mounted and installed in the Crib Room and framed with the gold leafed Rosary beads will cost €600 each. They will go on the wall opposite the stained glass window and over the container holding the Holy Oils.
If any individual, group or business would like to sponsor the cost of one of these new medallions please contact Fr. Kelly. Alternatively some individuals or group or business might like to part sponsor this project it would be greatly appreciated. All donations towards this project are welcome.
Please RETURN your TROCAIRE BOXES on Good Friday to the Cathedral.
