DONEGAL and the North and West of Ireland could see FIVE MORE days of glorious sunshine, Met Eireann has said.
Forecaster Evelyn Cusack even reckons Donegal could be the best hotspot on the island with temperatures of up to 19C.
“It’s going to be fantastic weekend and at this stage the very warm and mild weather over the continent will be coming here and will be with us until Wednesday at least,” she said.
“It may last beyond that, but it is too early to say for sure. What we can say for sure is that the north west will be getting some of the best weather between now and next Wednesday,” said the meterologist.
She added: “The weather looks like staying dry and settled through much of the coming week possibly up to late Thursday or Friday with light winds.
“The days will be very mild or warm in places with temperatures in the mid to high teens in some parts though several degrees cooler near coasts.
“The nights will be cool under clear skies with some grass frost, and also some patchy mist or fog.”
The weather is helping all sorts of businesses with a rush on for garden plants at Alcorns in Letterkenny where they are seeing their busiest March in years.
And bars, restaurants, B&Bs and hotels – particularly along the coasts, are hoping for more trade, particularly from the North.
Clocks go forward on Saturday night by an hour, heralding the start of Irish summer time.
And it looks like we are getting the weather to match.
