Great performances from the 5th and 6th class girls from Scoil Rann na Feirsde and Scoil Anagaire in Athlone on Thursday last at the All-Ireland Sportshall Athletics semi-final. The joint team clocked 120 points against 5 other counties. The girls started the day with victories in the 2+2 Lap Relay (Tara Harley and Ailíse Ní Ghrianna), the 6 Lap Relay (Amy Hanna and Nicola Ní Bhaoill), the 4 by 1 Relay (Amy Hanna, Nicola Ní Bhaoill, Tara Harley and Ailíse Ní Ghrianna), the Obstacle Relay (Maria Sharkey, Rachel Gallagher, Caoimhe Ní Bhaoill and Sadhbha Ní Bhaoill). Great performances followed in the field events with the highlight being Amy Hanna getting over 2m in the Standing Long Jump. So it’s back to Athlone for the All-Ireland final and there will good support travelling. Good luck to all the girls and coaches involved.
