A Donegal man living in Australia was able to spend his 30th birthday back home after winning a competition by Irish/Australian newspaper the Irish Echo.

Cormac Lynch, a civil engineer from Muff, jetted back home this week thanks to Emirates Airlines who co-hosted the competition.

Cormac, who moved to Australia in 2010, was able to pick a friend to travel with and wisely chose partner Jennifer.

The pair have been spending a number of days in Donegal, Derry, Belfast and Dublin.

As part of the competition, Cormac is compiling a report on his return to Ireland which will be published in the Irish Echo soon.

The couple are planning to start planning their wedding when they return to St Kilda where they live.
