Making History:
Well done to Siobhan Coyle who makes history in becoming one of the first lady referee’s to take up the whistle in this years All County League. Two Donegal ladies have joined the ranks of GAA refereeing in the county.
In what is an uncommon sight within the GAA, Siobhan is on the list of Donegal referees for the coming year.
Siobhan already has experience at juvenile level in the county and has now progressed to the adult scene for the 2012 campaign.
“It is a challenge but one I’m, looking forward to. I have been refereeing underage games for the last few years and I have really enjoyed it so I suppose in a way it is a natural progression,” Coyle told the Donegal Democrat.
“It is something that I have been thinking of doing for some time. It is something that has appealed to me in recent years so I have decided to give it a go.
“I did the course earlier this year and it went well for me and I was delighted Pat Walsh told me he was going to put me on the adult panel for the coming season,” Siobhan added to the Democrat.
Pat Walsh, County Referee’s administrator announced his decision to use two Donegal ladies for this season’s campaign at the March County Board meeting.
