Club Notes – Naomh Adhamhnáin – 12.03.12
Friday night was another superb night’s entertainment as we hosted our 2nd Strictly Come Dancing in the Mt. Errigal Hotel. Ciara McVeigh Lunn and hubby Timmy Lunn walked away with the judge’s prize, while Louise McKeague and Ollie Harvey won the public vote and Strictly Come Dancing crown for 2012. Thanks to Charlie Collins for a great job hosting the event and to our judges, Phil Dalton, Tina Higgins, Chris Duddy and Brian Kelly who did a great job.
A night of traditional music, song recitations and dancing will take place in the clubhouse on Friday 16th March to mark the St. Patricks weekend. Musicians and singers from Donegal and Tyrone will be in attendance and everyone is welcome. A good night is assured so please come out and support this important cultural event.
Bailiúchan na Teanga will again take place at the Cathedral at all Masses on St. Patricks Day. Please contact Fergus McGee (086-8544445) if you are available to collect at any one of the Masses.
Congratulations to Sean Feeney who finished second in the Ulster Scór semi-final last Friday night. He also features in last week’s Gaelic Life.
The U-16 Boys Div. 1 Footballers travelled to Carn on Sunday and came home with the points after a good 3-09 to 1-08 win. The Div. 2 team were at home to Cloughaneely and went down by just 4 points, 2-07 to 1-06. The Div. 1 team are at home this week to Milford while the Div. 2 team travel to Sheephaven Bay to take on Downings.
The U-14 Boys Div. 1 team began the defence of their Féile title with good wins over St. Michael’s and Cloughaneely in two close games at The Bridge on Saturday.
Well done to Lee Scanlon, Conor Parke and Darren McGowan for reaching the All-Ireland Hurling Final with LYIT. Unfortunately on the day they were narrowly beaten. U16 and U18 hurling training has now started on Mondays at 5:30pm in O’Donnell Park. All new hurlers welcome
Please note that all Camogie players must be registered this week to be included on the Camogie Insurance. Registration takes place on Thursday at 7:30pm in the Clubhouse.
We are marching in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade again this year. Please meet at Tobin’s at 1:30pm sharp as we have to be in line by 2:30pm at the bottom of the Port Rd. Thanks to Eddie Tobin for use of the upstairs facility again this year. Please be sure to wear your Black & Amber.
It is time for all adult players to make sure they are Registered for 2012. There will be a Registration night this Thursday in the Clubhouse between 7:30pm – 8:30pm.
The club is looking to recruit a Children’s Officer. The candidate must have a Child Protection Course done and will also be Garda vetted. If you are interested, or know someone you think is suitable, please contact Charlie McAteer on 087-2668633 asap.
The Training Pitch schedule is now complete for 2012 and will be e-mailed to all managers in the coming days and will also be put onto the Club Notice Board.
Anyone interested in getting a Club Tie is asked to contact Paul McGovern immediately for details. We will be placing an order in the next couple of weeks and price will depend on quantity ordered.
Elaina Gallagher has been appointed as the new club Treasurer for 2012. Anyone interested in helping out with gates, umpiring etc is asked to contact a member of the executive asap.
There were 4 winners in this week’s Lotto Draw. They matched 3 numbers and win €25 each. The numbers drawn were: 1-2-4-15 and the winners are: Collette Ferry, chapel Rd., Dungloe (Adrian); Adrian Smith, Knockbrack; Eugene Sullivan, The Fairways and Mick Martin, Elmwood Downs. As always winnings can be collected in Blake’s Bar on the Main St.
The Club will be launching a new campaign in the coming days to encourage members to join our Club Lotto scheme. It will include an option to include Club Donegal Membership for those interested. More details to follow.
