The first outing of the Donegal VEC Golf Society was played at the weekend in Donegal Golf Club, Murvagh.
This was the first outing under the stewardship of new society captain, and last years Golfer of the Year, Paddy Mc Daid. Conditions on the day were excellent for playing golf and it was refreshing to see some new names in the winner’s circle.
Winner on the day was Christopher Hegarty form Abbey V.S. with a fine score of 37pts, closely followed by Martin Gallen of Head office with 36pts and Oliver Plunkett also from Abbey V.S. in third on 35 pts. The remainder of the positions were filled by Eanna O Mainnin on 34pts, Declan Collum 33pts and Michael Mc Grath on 33pts b.o.t.
The society is up and running then for another year with the next outing set for Greencastle G.C. on the 21st April.
This outing will be our President’s Prize with this years President Mr Martin Farren hoping to play himself on the day.
Captain Paddy Mc Daid would like to remind all schools and centres that newcomers, of any golfing ability, are most welcome to join this excellent society.
