A man has appeared in court charged with a number of incidents including an attempted handbag snatch in Letterkenny and the break-in to Cara House.
Matthew Lafferty appeared in court in handcuffs after being arrested by Gardai.
Lafferty, of 35 Fairgreen Park, had been on bail after two break-ins to private houses in Letterkenny recently.
Lafferty, who suffers from drug dependency, had been caught by Gardai hiding in a wardrobe after allegedly committing the crimes.
Garda Kevin Hynes told Letterkenny District that when charged Lafferty said “I’m sorry for what I done.”
Solicitor Patsy Gallagher told the court that there were a number of matters involving Lafferty due before the court shortly.
Gardai told the court that Lafferty was currently in breach of his bail conditions because he had failed to sign on twice a day as agreed with previous court sittings.
Judge Paul Kelly refused an application for bail.
He adjourned all charges against Lafferty until March 12th for hearing.
