Senior Ladies Football:
CLG Buncrana Senior Ladies Football Team played their first match of 2012 on Sunday 4th March away to Malin. As well as it being the Buncrana ladies first pre-season match of 2012, it was also an historic day for the Buncrana Club itself as it was the clubs first outing for ladies football at this level. The much more experienced (last years junior league second placed team) Malin side started the stronger in the first half. The nerves of the newly formed, youthful Buncrana team showed at this stage of the game. But as the nerves settled, the girls began to get into more of a rhythm and the hard training over the last couple of months began to shine through. The second half saw a much better performance from the ladies, particularly from Roisin Doherty (Player of the Match), Grainne Carlin, Michelle Brown and Doreen McGee, to name but a few. However; ultimately, the experience of the Malin ladies won them the match. The team are know hoping to gain from this experience and continue into the rest of the season showing their growing quality. The rest of the pre-season matches and training sessions will hopefully keep the team heading in the right direction.
